Nurse Aide Train the Trainer Workshop

Become a Qualified Instructor of the Nurse Aide Training Program

Who Should Apply

The Introduction to Train-the-Trainer Workshop is a program for registered nurses who are interested in becoming qualified instructors for Nurse Aide Training Programs with the State of Michigan. The workshop is designed to provide learners the components of a nurse aide training program, the basic Federal requirements for a nurse aide program, the mandated curriculum for a Michigan nurse aide training program, principles of adult learning, and the initial program application and addendum procedures. The instructor for the workshop is a qualified trainer by the State of Michigan.  The Bureau of Community & Health Systems, Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) approves the workshop curriculum and teaching materials.

Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the components of a Nurse Aide Training Program for Michigan;
2. Discuss the federal requirements for Nurse Aide Training Programs;
3. Discuss the content areas in a state-approved Nurse Aide Training Program for Michigan;
4. Discuss the five (5) principles of adult learning and special needs students and how to incorporate them into teaching styles and lesson plans; and
5. Understand and complete the initial program application procedures and know when to submit an addendum to the State of Michigan for their Nurse Aide Training Program.

Completing the LeadingAge Michigan Introduction to Train-The-Trainer Workshop does not guarantee a participant will meet the requirements as a Qualified Instructor of Nurse Aide Training Programs with the State of Michigan.

This workshop provides instructions for building a Nurse Aide Program. Although this training includes a session on adult learning principles, it is not designed to provide in-depth knowledge on how to teach the adult learner.
