LeadingAge Michigan Serves as the Voice for Aging Services

Since 1968, LeadingAge Michigan has been proudly representing mission-based providers who serve frail seniors and adults with disability through the full array of post acute and long term services and supports. We are the only statewide association in Michigan that represents the entire continuum of post-acute and long term services and supports:
  • home and community based services,
  • affordable housing,
  • Programs of All-Inclusive Care of the Elderly (PACE),  
  • continuing care retirement communities
  • hospice and palliative care,
  • home health,
  • assisted living,
  • adult day health,
  • homes for the aged,
  • adult foster care,
  • county medical care facilities,
  • hospital long term care units,
  • nursing homes, 
  • senior centers,
Many Members are sponsored by religious, ethnic, fraternal, governmental and other charitable organizations.

Our members distinguish themselves by focusing on what is good for the consumer through staffing, delivering quality outcomes, and reinvesting in communities and people. In general, residents in member nursing facilities receive 37.2% more registered nurse care, 6.1% more licensed practical nurse care, and 10.4% more certified nursing assistant care.

With over 320 members serving across the state, LeadingAge Michigan has long been on the driving edge to innovation and unique models of care. Our members have developed distinctive service alternatives such as continuing care retirement communities, programs of all-inclusive care for the elderly, and small house/green house models.

LeadingAge Michigan, in order to best serve consumer and member needs during times of health care renewal, has created a unique structure of subsidiary organizations to serve the proactive and visionary aging service provider. LeadingAge Michigan itself is a Trade Association that serves member needs through advocacy with legislators and policy makers. It also serves as the umbrella organization that houses several agencies working on diverse products designed to specifically assist the mission-based member define the horizon of long term supports and services in Michigan:
  • Senior Care Resources: a Limited Liability Company that establishes a distinct network of mission-based provider members whose services products meet high performance standards
  • Member Savings: Through the power of collective buying strategies, LeadingAge Michigan is able to provide significant member savings through our group purchasing organization.
Our national partner, LeadingAge, is an association of 6,000 not-for-profit organizations, 38 state affiliates, hundreds of businesses, research partners,consumer organizations, foundations and a broad global network of aging services organizations that reach over
30 countries, all dedicated to expanding the world of possibilities for aging. Together, we advance policies, promote practices and conduct research that supports, enables and empowers people to live fully as they age.
