DESCRIPTION

The How to Become a Qualified Instructor and Build a Program workshop is a half-day program designed to provide learners the information they need to become a qualified instructor and develop a nurse aide training program. The instructor will review the nurse aide training program structure, process and outcomes, the nurse aide training program application, the nurse aide trainer application, the federal requirements and the State of Michigan Nurse Aide Training Curriculum Model. This course is not a requirement for becoming a qualified instructor for a Nurse Aide Training Program with the State of Michigan.

Anyone who would like to learn how to build a nurse aide training program is welcome to attend the workshop. If you are a registered nurse who would like to become a qualified nurse aide instructor, we strongly suggest you review the Nurse Aide Trainer Application before attending the workshop to make sure you meet the State of Michigan's trainer requirements.

Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the components of a Nurse Aide Training Program for Michigan;
2. Discuss the federal requirements for Nurse Aide Training Programs;
3. Discuss the content areas in a state-approved Nurse Aide Training Program for Michigan; and
4. Understand the program application procedures and know when to submit an addendum to the State of Michigan for a Nurse Aide Training Program.

NEW STATE OF MICHIGAN REQUIREMENTS

Due to new State of Michigan requirements, LeadingAge Michigan will now be offering two Nurse Aide Train-The-Trainer Workshops. One full day training will be the Nurse Aide Train-The-Trainer: Adult Learning Principles. The second training will be the Nurse Aide Train-The-Trainer: How to Become a Qualified Instructor and Build Your Program. The adult learning principles workshop is not required but will meet one of the State of Michigan's requirements to become an instructor. The how to build your program workshop provides a lot of valuable information but completing this workshop is not required by the State of Michigan.

Completing the LeadingAge Michigan Introduction to Train-The-Trainer Workshops does not guarantee a participant will meet the requirements as a Qualified Instructor of Nurse Aide Training Programs with the State of Michigan. Before registering for either workshop, we strong recommend reviewing the State of Michigan Nurse Aide Trainer Application to determine if you meet the state's requirements.
