AANAC Medicare University Workshop

Medicare compliance is a vital part of your facility's ongoing success, and AANAC's Medicare University workshop is designed to help you reach that goal. This in-depth course will help you manage the reimbursement system, navigate audits, avoid risky practices, and help you stop drowning in confusing and changing regulations.

By complementing your nursing expertise with a thorough understanding of Medicare processes and procedures, you'll consistently earn accurate reimbursement for the care you provide and be able to help your residents thrive.

This workshop will increase your MU knowledge:

  • Understand Medicare benefits, eligibility, and the difference between Part A, B, C, and D
  • Share the concepts of SNF skilled services, payment structures, and consolidated billing
  • Define the qualifications and requirements for both Part A and B therapy
  • Understand the Medicare claim review and provider appeal processes
  • Gain confidence in the documentation process
  • Comply with billing requirements and understand the principles of the Beneficiary Notification Initiative

This workshop covers content from the following MU curriculum for skilled nursing facilities:

  • Medicare
  • The Prospective Payment System
  • Part B Therapy
  • Medical Review
  • Medicare Documentation
  • Consolidated Billing
  • The Beneficiary Notice Initiative
  • SNF Billing Requirements and PPS Consolidated Billing


This program is intended for Regional Reimbursement Corporate Consultants/Managers, Administrators, DONs, Billing Staff, Nurse Assessment Coordinators and RNs, LPNs, and other nurse managers involved in the MDS and Billing.

- Handouts will be provided to attendees electronically for this workshop. Students can download the materials to her/his device of choice to bring to the workshop. Students also have the option to download and print the materials. Access information will be sent via email to each student prior to the beginning of the workshop.

- Lunch is provided.

Space is limited, so you are encouraged to register early.


The American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing (AAPACN)* is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

AAPACN* works in conjunction with the National Association of Long-Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) to provide nursing home administrators with continuing education credit for any AANAC workshop attended.

The Medicare University 3-day workshop is approved for 22.5 CEs.

CEs for the three-day workshop are based upon actual classroom attendance for the duration of the scheduled educational activity verified through sign-in sheets. If a student must leave before the activity is schedule to end or is late arriving, he/she will not receive full CE credit. Partial credit may be awarded. Each attendee, based on sign-in sheets/attendance, will receive the CE certificate upon completion of the education activity.


To take advantage of the AANAC Member rate, registrants must provide a legitimate AANAC Membership number while registering. Registration forms that do not include the registrant's AANAC membership number will be charged the non-member rate for this course. To become an AANAC Member ($124/year) and take advantage of the discounted registration rate, please sign up on-line at After you have become a member with AANAC, you will then need to return to to register to attend the course. If you have questions about your AANAC membership, please call AANAC directly at (800) 768-1880. You do not have to be an AANAC Member to complete the program.
