DESCRIPTION

Would you like to improve the resident/patient life experiences and at the same time tackle daily challenges from a different perspective? This program will teach you new techniques to enhance the quality of life for your residents/patients that will create more purposeful living while improving overall health and better outcomes.

Nationally known speaker, Claudia Blumenstock, will provide opportunities for experiential learning in an interactive format. She is an expert in teaching skills to create more meaningful and purposeful exchanges with older adults. Claudia invites participants to stretch outside their comfort zones by examining their perspectives about loss, behavior, humor and conversation.

This interactive, full-day program, is designed to help all levels of aging services professionals consider ways to expand their proficiency in providing enriched life experiences for their residents/patients.

PRESENTER

Claudia Blumenstock, LNHA

A nationally recognized presenter and consultant with more 30 years of experience in long-term care. Her work focuses on providing a more engaging aging environment for older adults by improving customer satisfaction and enhancing the resident experience. Her educational programs deliver innovative and interactive learning experiences. Currently, Claudia is a Coach on a New York State Department of Health funded grant project with the goal of improving resident satisfaction in long term care facilities. Claudia also provides training to other LeadingAge state affiliates. Her blog, Creatively Engaging Aging, offers tools and strategies to enhance the aging experience in long-term care facilities.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Nursing Home Administrators, Executive Directors, Directors of Nursing, Nurse Managers, Department Heads, Supervisors, Managers, Nurses, Social Workers and Activity Professionals. All aging services healthcare professionals will benefit from this educational activity.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

To assist you with continuing education needed to support your license or certification, LeadingAge Michigan Educational Foundation will apply to the following organizations to receive pre-approved cred hours for:

Activity Professionals (AP)—National Certification Council for Activity Professionals
Nursing (RN/LPN)—LeadingAge Michigan Educational Foundation (WNA-0558-001) is an approved provider of continuing education by the Wisconsin Nurses Association, as accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Nursing Home Administrators (NHA)—State of Michigan Nursing Home Administrators Board
Social Work (SW)—Michigan Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative

Six (6.0) contact hours will be awarded per successful completion of each event.

COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS
