Did you know human trafficking education is now a State of Michigan requirement for some healthcare professional license renewals?

This session provides and overview of Homeland Security Investigations and its broad investigative authority. Learn about the types of victims, red flag indicators and strategies for identifying and responding to human trafficking focusing on the vulnerabilities of potential victims and the response from those who encounter victims of labor and sexual exploitation. We will also address how the aging services industry could possibly be utilized in both types of trafficking. The live webinar will be offered on January 30 and March 27.

OBJECTIVES
Learners will be able to:

  • Describe human trafficking.
  • Explain labor and sex trafficking.
  • Describe human trafficking victim identification and the first responders’ role.

Nursing Home Administrators, DONs, ADONs, Nurse Managers, Social Workers and any healthcare professional who would like to learn more about human trafficking or who needs this required education for their license renewal.

CONTINUING EDUCATION
NHA: LeadingAge Michigan Educational Foundation has applied for continuing education contact hours with the Michigan Board of Nursing Home Administrators.

NURSES: LeadingAge Michigan Educational Foundation (WNA-0558-001) is an approved provider of continuing education by the Wisconsin Nurses Association, as accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

SOCIAL WORKERS: LeadingAge Michigan Educational Foundation, provider #1499, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. LeadingAge Michigan Educational Foundation maintains responsibility for the program. ASWB Approval Period: 4/10/18 to 4/10/19. Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval for continuing education credits. Social workers participating in this course will receive 2 continuing education clock hours.

In order to receive the continuing education credits for the webinar you must, sign in to GoToMeeting, stay for the entire length of the webinar and complete the follow up survey. Once the survey has been completed you will be emailed your certificate of attendance. Certificates can also be printed upon course and evaluation completion by logging into your profile at www.leadingagemi.org

One (1.0) contact hours will be awarded per successful completion.

COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS
