AADNS Director of Nursing Services-Certified (DNS-CT) Workshop

Take your leadership and management talents to the next level with a preparatory workshop for AADNS’s Director of Nursing Services—Certified (DNS-CT) certification. Earning this credential validates your expertise, gives you the advantage among your peers, and helps you improve quality, communication, and resident care throughout your facility.

The DNS-CT credential from AADNS shows that you have the leadership and management skills and knowledge to excel as a DON. Certification indicates that you have met nationally recognized standards of expertise for directors of nursing services in long-term care, that you are up-to-date with the rules and regulations, and that you can lead and nurture your team.

This three-day workshop will complement your nursing expertise with leadership and management skills. Workshops are taught by individuals who go through rigorous requirements to become Master Teachers and who are experts in the field.

Note: The DNS-CT Certification Examination – the DNS-CT exam is sold separately for $198 (member)/$396 (non-member). Upon purchase, you will have access to the DNS-CT certification exam in the online Classroom.

The DNS-CT credential is perfect for directors of nursing services, nursing home administrators, vice presidents of clinical services, and other long-term care professionals with management responsibilities. To earn the credential, you must be an RN and pass the DNS-CT certification examination with a score of 80% or better.


Amy Franklin, RN, RAC-MT, DNS-MT, QCP-MT
Amy Franklin is a curriculum development specialist for AANAC’s sister organization, AADNS. In her more than 20 years of healthcare service experience, she has served as corporate compliance officer, clinical consultant (multi-state), survey crisis manager, director of nursing, infection control officer, ICD-10 CM/PCS trainer (AHIMA), and MDS coordinator. She has spoken as a subject matter expert on clinical and reimbursement issues at regional and national levels. Amy is certified as an AANAC and AADNS Master Teacher in all their certification programs (RAC-CT, Medicare University, DNS-CT, and QCP-CT). Her expertise and practice include extensive knowledge of state and federal regulations, quality assurance, and all governmental payers’ reimbursement systems. She is currently devoted to developing and implementing practical, sustainable solutions for clinical and reimbursement systems that will promote high-quality, efficient care.

- Handouts will be provided to attendees electronically for this workshop. Students can download the materials to her/his device of choice to bring to the workshop. Students also have the option to download and print the materials. Access information will be sent via email to each student prior to the beginning of the workshop.

The American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing (AAPACN)* is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

AAPACN* works in conjunction with the National Association of Long-Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) to provide nursing home administrators with continuing education credit for any AADNS workshop attended.

The DNS 3-day prep workshop is approved for 22.5 CEs.

*The American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing (AAPACN) is the parent organization to AADNS.


CEs for the three-day workshop are based upon actual classroom attendance for the duration of the scheduled educational activity verified through sign-in sheets. If a student must leave before the activity is schedule to end or is late arriving, he/she will not receive full CE credit. Partial credit may be awarded. Each attendee, based on sign-in sheets/attendance, will receive the CE certificate upon completion of the education activity. The final certification exams are not a requirement for claiming a CE certification for the workshop.


To take advantage of the AADNS Member rate, registrants must provide a legitimate AADNS Membership number while registering. Registration forms that do not include the registrant's AADNS membership number will be charged the non-member rate for this course. To become an AADNS Member ($199/year) and take advantage of the discounted registration rate, please sign up on-line at After you have become a member with AADNS, you will then need to return to to register to attend the course. If you have questions about your AADNS membership, please call AADNS directly at (844) 796-9634. You do not have to be an AADNS Member to complete the program.
