Business Partner of the Year 

The Business Partner of the Year award recognizes an organization providing products and services to senior care providers who has demonstrated unwavering support and active engagement with the association and continuous commitment to our members and senior care industry.

 

Emerging Leader

The Emerging Leader Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated aptitude for and commitment to professional growth as a leader. Additionally, they have successfully assumed expanded leadership responsibilities within a LeadingAge Michigan member organization in the past 3 years. This category is also open to LeadingAge Michigan Business Partners

Criteria: the nominee...

  • Has successfully assumed and demonstrated competence in an enlarging role within the member organization
  • Has shown aspiration to greater advancement and commitment to the investment of time and energy in future leadership opportunities within the field of aging services
  • Has demonstrated the ability to articulate and inspire a shared vision, as well as the ability to develop robust relationships within the organization
  • Has exemplified an outstanding commitment to the highest standards of professional conduct and practice 

 

Caring Spirit

The Caring Spirit Award recognizes the achievements of front-line staff and direct care employees who, while working for the nominating organization, have made a significant impact upon the lives of older adults.

Criteria: the nominee...
  • Is employed in a non-management role (CNA, LPN, RN, dietary, housekeeping and laundry staff, maintenance social services, pastoral care, activities and life enrichment personnel, office staff, etc.)
  • Has demonstrated exemplary service, personal commitment and genuine care for seniors
  • Has made a significant and positive impact in the lives of senior residents
  • Inspires and promotes excellence in others

Shining Star

The Shining Star Award recognizes a gifted aging services professional who, while working for the nominating organization, has consistently demonstrated dedication, commitment and enthusiasm in his/her profession, and has made a significant impact upon the lives of older adults.

Criteria: the nominee...

  • Has been employed in a mid-management role (managers, directors, etc.)
  • Provides consistent, dedicated contribution to senior care
  • Demonstrates excellence in management of personnel, systems or customer service

Life Member

The Life Member Award is presented to a distinguished individual who has made significant contributions to the field of aging services creating a lasting and meaningful legacy. The nominee must have worked for a LeadingAge Michigan member and has retired from such employment. 

Criteria: the nominee...
  • Has fully retired from the member community
  • Has provided meritorious service to the Association and outstanding contributions to the field of aging services
  • Has created a lasting legacy in the field

Leadership in Action

The Leadership in Action Award recognizes an individual whose actions and leadership greatly enhance the work environment in their organization as well as quality of life for residents in the entire community.

Criteria: the nominee...

  • Is employed in a top management role (President, Executive Director, Healthcare or Housing Administrator, CEO, CFO, Vice President, etc.)
  • Has provided strong leadership and demonstrated a commitment to a team approach and excellence in the workplace
  • Has exemplified exceptional leadership practices that have advanced the mission and goals of the organization

Outstanding Mentor

The Outstanding Mentor Award recognizes the efforts of an individual who has mentored a protégé(s) in the senior services field. A mentor is someone who has nurtured and encouraged others and provided opportunities for personal and professional growth. The nomination should include testimonials or other relevant information from the protégé(s).

Criteria: the nominee...
  • Has nurtured, coached, counseled and encouraged others in order to help them develop personally and professionally
  • Has mentored while employed by an LeadingAge Michigan member organization

Trustee of the Year

The Trustee of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has served with distinction on the governing board of a LeadingAge Michigan member organization and thereby made an outstanding contribution to the well-being of seniors, to the employees who serve them, and to the organization's mission.

Criteria: the nominee...

  • Has provided significant years of service in a trustee position
  • Has demonstrated a significant contribution of time, effort and expertise to the betterment of the organization and the seniors it serves 
  • Has supported the organization through financial contributions
  • Has fostered growth and change through effective and enlightened governance, and understanding of the aging services environment

 

Group Awards

Volunteer of the Year

The Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes an individual or group volunteer, auxiliary or organization working within a member community that has provided extraordinary service to seniors.

Criteria: the nominated individual(s)...

  • Has exemplified consistent service and dedication in a volunteer capacity 
  • Has demonstrated significant commitment to residents/clients in the area of aging
  • Has provided contributions that have significantly enhanced and enriched the lives of seniors and made a positive impact on the organization

Leading-Edge Care & Services

The Leading-Edge Care & Services Award recognizes a member organization for programs and services that are models of innovation and excellence and contribute significantly to the quality of life of individuals served, or significantly improve the organization's operations. The nominations for the award can come from the area of innovation in adoption of new technologies, workforce development practices, community collaboration, best practices, etc. 

Criteria: the organization provides a program of care or service that

  • Emphasizes quality of life for the individuals served or significantly improves the organization’s operations
  • Provides proven benefits to the residents, staff or organizations
  • Has potential for application to the needs of other aging services organizations
